SWEEP. SWEEP. SWEEP.
SWEEP – Feng Shui Tip: What began as a simple starting point for an overwhelmed client has become the vertebrae for all my feng shui consults. Whether you are at a crossroads or just want to keep your energy upright, sweeping will change the air around you.
As a feng shui consultant, my intention with any client is the same. We define what’s going on in their home. I offer simple action steps that will create better balance and flow. Along the way, I witness a client’s creative genius stepping out into a whole new world. Our meaningful conversation – combined with specific intentions – is usually all it takes, and they are off cultivating a life they really LOVE.
Feng shui is the art of applying unique variations of an ancient practice to improve our wealth, health, and happiness. But it is not meant to be complicated, esoteric, or even weird. Having studied and practiced shui for almost a decade, I’ve distilled my work down to simple mechanics that, if observed and honored, will deliver BIG results. The biggest darling of them all – sweeping.
If you’ve never heard this before, you are in for a fascinating surprise. Here are three reasons to grab your broom and give sweeping a whirl:
- Sweeping is an excellent ritual to incorporate into a daily or weekly routine. First, think of a ritual as a servant of your intention. And since frequency creates frequency, the more you honor any ritual you set, the more energy you collect around your intention. Eventually, those intentions manifest and become a frequent experience in your life.
A simple ritual I LOVE is to regularly sweep outside our front door. This signals to the universe we are open for luck to find us. I give thanks for the day or week and all its possibilities. Whenever we align quality attention with a ritual, our intentions are given the spotlight.
- If you aren’t sure where to sweep, follow me and start outside your front door. Feng shui holds that our entryways welcome all universal blessings into a home, so if you want luck and opportunity to find you, make your entrance entrancing. The more we use the front door, the more we welcome auspicious energy into our homes and lives. A sweeping ritual is the perfect way to stitch the door’s frequent use into a regular habit.
The other gorgeous note of an observed practice is we begin showing up for ourselves differently. Something sacred happens when we excavate what isn’t serving us and pursue simplicity as an everyday experience. A small pattern habitually repeated makes a BIG difference, and you will find yourself living energetically at a much higher octave. Better flow, more synchronicity, and a surge of inspiration will become constant companions.
- The act of sweeping is synonymous for out with the old, in with the new. Not only are you sweeping away dirt and debris, you are symbolically releasing the past and any low vibe energy while preparing room to receive refreshments. By declaring spots in our home as sacred space and maintaining them, little improvements ripple into other areas of our lives. Sweeping is a simple gesture toward our home, and a powerful statement to the universe. And this message gets her attention. Every time.
Once you start sweeping, watch for delightful little synchronicities — the universe will answer the call. As you reclaim your home and all its potent power, listen to your instincts. Your house will give you clues and cues precisely where to take your attention next. Lean into your space and find ways to anchor rituals of LOVE into your days – they will become beaming beacons of light, attracting the necessary ingredients for a really good life. And when you don’t know what else to do, sweep.
